Shish Taouk

Shish Taouk

Shish Taouk is a traditional marinated chicken shish kebab of Ottoman cuisine that later became part of Middle Eastern cuisine. It is widely eaten in Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Lebanon,[4] Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Iraq, and Israel. A similar dish in Persian cuisine is the traditional jujeh kabab. It is also served in kebab houses in many cities around the world.

Tips from our kitchen

Marinade the chicken for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight in the fridge to allow the chicken to tenderize. Cover the chicken immediately with pita bread after grilling. Use plain full fat yogurt, and not Greek yogurt. Soak the bamboo sticks for 30-45 minutes if you’re using.
